International experts from Germany, Italy and Japan and the minister of Culture and the governor of the province of Bamiyan, met in the UNESCO, in order to elaborate a plan to protect the archeological site of Bamiyan.

The reconstruction of the giant Buddhas destroyed by the Talibans in 2001 is not planed yet for scientific reasons and because of the costs of the operation. Nevertheless, the biggest niche will be strengthened but left empty as a mark of the past violence and a museum will be created to protect and display the discoveries made in the valley.
