FRANCE / Paris: eBay gives money to the Louvre

The fund of the Louvre, created at the end of 2009, will receive $3 milions from the founder of eBay, Pierre Omidyar.

French-American and of Iranian origin, the president of the American company of on-line auctions, is known for his operations of philanthropy.

He subsidizes Roshan Cultural Heritage Institute, the body has a non profit-making purpose and promotes the Iranian culture. It is via this institute that the Musée du Louvre will receive this money which " will be dedicated to the financing of educational programs, to research and to scholarships on the art and the culture of the Iranian world ".
