Catalan painter and sculptor Antoni Tapies has died on February 6 in Barcelone. He was 88.

Considered by El Mundo newspaper as "the last major artist of XXth century", Tàpies, one of the main figure of contemporary abstract art, is leaving a work including more that 8,000 pieces, exhibited in the main contemporary art collections of the world.
