Prize given

Thursday 12th July 2012, the duo of designers Arturo Martínez and Daniel Lierah have been pronounced the winners of the 080 Barcelona Fashion Prize For The Best Collection named “Sardonicus”.

The international jury - journalist, Jean-Paul Cauvin, the President of the French Federation of Prêt-à-Porter Femme, Jean-Pierre Mocho, the headhunter Katri Salminen, the consultant Muriel Piaser, and journalist Philippe Pourhashemi — chose the collection “Sardonicus” as the best at this the tenth edition of the event for its originality, design and creativity and for its commercial potential.

The Director-General for Commerce, Josep Maria Recasens, handed over the award which comes with 20 000 euros for the best collection at the event.

The jury also chose the winner of the 080 Contest for the summer: Maria Vázquez Mosterio (The European Institute of Design) was selected for her design for the official bag for 080 Barcelona Fashion Week, which will be commercialized at the next edition of the event scheduled to take place in January 2013. There were also special mentions for Verònica Lozano Jurado (Catalan Institute of Fashion) and Nicasio Torres Melgar (the Catalan Escola de la Dona).
