The International Contemporary Art Fair, ARCOmadrid, which IFEMA is organising from 19 to 23 February in pavilions 7 and 9 of the Madrid Fair, will be held for the 33rd year. The main sectoin of ARCOmadrid -General Programme- will recover important international galleries, among the 164 firms it consists of, such as, Nicolai Wallner, Peter Kilchmann, Bob Van Orsouw, Andersen’s Contemporary and Kewenig, as well as other large galleries such as Esther Schipper; Chantal Crousel; Vera Munro; Mehdi Chouakri; Vermelho; Gregor Podnar, Juana de Aizpuru, Oliva Arauna and Mai 36.

Galleries and museums will display their best exhibits during ARCOmadrid. The exhibition of important collections of contemporary art will include that of the Foundation ARCO, in the Alcobendas Art Centre; Grazyna Kulczyk Collection, at the Sala de Arte Santander; the Jozami Collection, at the Lázaro Galdiano Foundation, the Telefónica Collection and that of the Reina Sofia National Museum Art Centre.

Also, the Guest Country, Finland, is making a big effort to present contemporary Finnish art with more than 10 exhibitions and workshops by Finnish artists in Madrid, such as the Kustaa Saksi exhibition at CentroCentro; the projection of Aki Kaurismäki, in the Reina Sofia National Art Museum (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía); the duo IC-98, in Conde Duque; the installation of Otto Karvonen, in CA2M; the projection of Hannu Karjalainen, in the Plaza de Callao, and Residencias El Ranchito with Finnish artists, in Matadero. Other museums will welcome important exhibitions such as the Thyssen-Bonemisza with the first monograph on Cézanne; the Bill Viola show [dialogue] in the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, and the “Taller de Picasso” (Picasso's Studio) in the Mapfre Foundation.

One year later, after ARCO grants artistic proposals following the closure of the Fair such as Pre-Pop. Barcelona 1965, reconstruction of the performances of 1965 in the windows of El Corte Inglés; the projection of the Finnish artist Hannu Karjalainen onto the Pantallas de Callao and a performance led by Eugenio Ampudia in the Museo de Artes Decorativas, among others.

Furthermore, on Tuesday 18, the galleries of Calle Doctor Fourquet and Barrio de las Letras will open specially until 22.00, and on Friday 21 a brunch will be held in the Arte Madrid galleries.
