After four years at the helm of Hermès, the brand's womenswear designer Christophe Lemaire announced his departure today onJuly 21st.

Since his own label is growing considerably he now feels the need of dedicating himself to it fully. "Working for Hermès has been a great pleasure: a profoundly enriching experience on both a human and professional level. I am proud of what we have built together,” he said in a statement.
With elegance and great taste, Lemaire has been able to renew the Maison's aesthetic by preserving both its heritage and its timeless identity. Although Hermès is still widely known as a leather goods and silks brand, Lemaire’s recent shows have been well received, and he was quietly carving out a new style for the French luxury brand, focusing on extraordinary materials and style over fashion."I am very grateful to Christophe for the passion with which he has addressed and enriched the expression of our house in women's ready-to-wear," said Axel Dumas, Chief Executive Officer of Hermès.

The Hermès Spring / Summer 2015 womenwear collection will be the last one designed by Christophe Lemaire and it will be presented during the upcoming Paris Fashion Week in October.
