Bernard Arnault, LVMH Chairman & Chief Executive, and the LVMH Group announced the death of Yves Carcelle on August 31st, following Carcelle's long and courageous struggle with cancer.

Yves Carcelle joined the LVMH Group and its Executive Committee in 1989, as a Chief Executive of Louis Vuitton. During the 20 years spent at the helm of the French maison, Carcelle achieved to establish Louis Vuitton as one of the world’s foremost luxury brands, by driving its international expansion. He actively contributed to Louis Vuitton's evolution from a leather goods and luggage brand to a ready-to-wear imperium, and supported former Creative Director Marc Jacobs with his sense for strategy and his one-of-a-kind business vision.

"It is with deep emotion and regret that I learned of Yves Carcelle’s passing. A tireless traveller, Yves was a pioneer who embodied the image and values of Louis Vuitton," said Bernard Arnault. After his departure from Louis Vuitton, Carcelle was appointed as a Chairman of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, an art museum and cultural center designed by the American architect Frank Gehry, which will open its doors on October 24th, at the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris.
