The inaugural exhibition has been curated by Anne Baldassari, a reputed art expert and former Director of the Musée Picasso. The refurbished museum is located in the opulent Hotel Salé, in the heart of the vibrant Le Marais district. The exhibition space was renovated by Jean-Francois Bodin, a French architect, and comprises three floors (300 sq m.). The museum’s permanent collection is incredibly rich and varied, and puts more than 400 artworks on display, including unpublished drawings, paintings, brass and ceramic sculptures. The art pieces are exhibited in a chronological order and divided into themes, which reflect the different periods of Picasso’s artistic carreer. Like a museum within the museum, the artist’s personal gallery on the museum’s top floor features his own private art collection, with collector art pieces by Cézanne, Renoir, Gauguin, Degas, Matisse, Braque, Rousseau, and Laurencin, among others. The Museum’s Director, Laurent Le Bon, stated that the exhibition is a unique opportunity to explore Pablo Picasso’s life through his timless and universal body of work.
