This season is inspired by the idea of opening up the fashion week to the public and highlight it’s position as a cultural phenomonen. The involvement is seen in the increased interest in Swedish fashion from cultural institutions as well as several initiatives from the collaborative brands. The majority of the brands showing this year have decided to make fashion more available.

“Fashion is a vital creative industry for Sweden with fantastic potential. Swedish fashion is an important part of the Swedish economy that creates both jobs and encourage development” says [red]Sweden’s Minister for Culture and Democracy Alice Bah Kuhnke[/red] .

[red]Emma Ohlson, secretary-general of ASFB[/red] , adds:
“The fact that Sweden’s Minister for Culture and Democracy Alice Bah Kuhnke opens Fashion Week feels important and on point. The fashion industry is the largest creative nourishment in Sweden, an industry in constant development creating their own cultural forms and phenomena. And the fact that the traditionally closed world of fashion takes initiative to become more democratic and accessible, to showcase the new ways of fashion, feels incredible. Alice Bah Kuhnke’s involvement in Fashion Week is therefore an important step in establishing Swedish fashion as an important cultural nourishment – a symbol of Swedish fashion taken seriously.”
