The latest Vivienne Westwood man spring summer 2017 fashion show, which as usual, season after season, it combines the aesthetic aspects with social and political commitments, it’s a tribute to Julian Assange.

The runway show opened with a video message shown to guests directed at the British Government calling for the immediate release of the freeing journalist and WikiLeaks founder, and celebrating the global event “First they came for Assange”, held simultaneously in ten major cities, including Paris, Berlin, Bruxelles, Madrid, Belgrado, Naples and Sarajevo. The event coincides with the start of Julian Assange’s fifth year of unlawful confinement in London’s Ecuadorian Embassy. A week dedicated to Assange, which will continue with additional events in New York, Quito, Buenos Aires and Montevideo, attended by speakers and performers like Patti Smith, Brian Eno, Michael Moore and PJ Harvey.

T-shirts and oversized sweaters that say IoU (“I owe you”), a slogan that refers to the Climate Revolution by [red]Vivienne Westwood[/red] to safeguard the planet and the Intellectuals Unite, the intellectual movement begun in UK colleges and universities. Military jackets, net suits, skirts and shirts adorned by tropical prints. Among laces, glitter and transparency. For unisex garments that take inspiration from 70s icons, from Marianne Faithfull to Jimi Hendrix and Brian Jones member of The Rolling Stones.

The Vivienne Westwood Man collection was produced by [red]Staff International[/red], while Studio Cataldi Group created the unisex knits.
