Six textile works featuring different folding and weaving techniques will be presented as the “clothing” of the [red]Yohji Yamamoto[/red] boutique, establishing a dialogue that resonates with the current collections, during the [red]Paris Design Week[/red] from the 3rd to the 10th of September, and the [red]London Design Festival[/red] from the 17th to the 24th of September.

The textile works will be hung on wooden structures created for the occasion. The structures are inspired by Japanese kimono stands. They will occupy the space, each carrying a different identity. Each piece is unique, made to measure by hand by the “master of pleats” [red]Pietro Seminelli[/red]. Echoing the work of Yohji Yamamoto, he designs his creations like a protective or defensive second skin, like an armor.

Architect and cabinetmaker by trade, Pietro Seminelli is a “Master of the art of pleating”, a distinction he received from the Ministry of Culture and Communication in 2006, for his excellence and the rarity of his “Haute Couture” expertise that he’s the only one to have implemented into interior design. When applied in textiles, the fold becomes subtle and elegant and transforms a surface in volume. He creates his own fabrics and then works on these specific fabrics to inscribe, line by line, the pattern of the pleats, with the rigor and precision of an architect.
