ITALY / Milan: Green Talent Competition Finalists announced

Creating a bespoke sustainable look which celebrates the excellence of Made in Italy, pairing ethics with aesthetics. This is the aim of the first edition of Green Carpet Competition, the competition launched in collaboration with Cnmi-Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and Eco Age-The Green Challenge Principles of Sustainable Excellence, the no-profit association founded by Livia Firth.
A prestigious international jury selected in Paris five finalists: Matea Benedetti, Daniele Calcaterra, Tomaso Anfossi and Francesco Ferrari, founders of Co|Te, Tiziano Guardini and Leo Macina. The emergent talents will attend the closing ceremony on 24th September at the Teatro La Scala in Milan, during which they will be show their innovative creations. These include a look crafted from Apple Skin - a leather alternative created from food waste, a look realized with cotton and organic silk, to lingerie, shoes and backpacks made of Econyl, a yarn made from recycled nylon, fishing nets and carpets.

The winner will receive the Franca Sozzani GCC Award for Best Emerging Designer in addition to the opportunity to present their own collection at Milan Fashion Week in February 2018. While all five finalists will be entitled to participate in an immersive 12 month mentoring promoted by Value Retail, a company specialized exclusively in the creation and operation of luxury outlet shopping destinations, with the opportunity to showcase their collections in a pop-up store at Fidenza Village.
