TOKYO 2019 NEW FASHION DESIGNER GRAND PRIX

2019 Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix unveiled the winner of its amateur section on the 16th of October during the Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO SS20. Nana Tamura from ES Mode Japon won the grand prize consisting in million yen. In addition, Yan-Wei Tseng, Yachin Lee, Chia-Han Hsieh, Takuya Yamada, Rioma Umehara and Seungmin Yu have been announced as winners of this year’s award.

On the occasion, some of the winners of the professional section, including 4 brands: BASE MARK, meagratia, P.E.O.T.W AG and PORTVEL (which has won the Governor of Tokyo),showed their upcoming collection. Furthermore, BODYSONG. , AVALONE(winning brands of 2019), BALMUNG, kaiki, SHINYA KOZUKA (2018), malamute , STAIR (2017) also showcased at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO SS20, and KIDILL, which won the same award in 2017, has participated in Paris Collection since 2018.

The Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix is divided into two categories : " Amateur" and "Professional". The Amateur Category is an important fashion award for students; many winners became professional designers who have their own brands and are now active in the global fashion industry. Moreover, since its first edition in 2011, the Professional Category has supported Tokyo based emergent fashion designers to give them the opportunity to expand their businesses range.
