Milan Men's Fashion Week SS22: the highlights

Modem selected eight young brands among those belonging to the new generation of designers who unveiled their collections during Milano Fashion Week, Spring Summer 2022 edition, held from June 18 to 22, 2021.

DIMA LEU - Born and grew up in Moldavia, Dima Leu in 2020 launched a new line called Dima Leu Homme, dedicated to tailoring and developed in collaboration with artisanal manufacturers in Valle d’Itria, in the south of Italy. Its collections are a combination of contemporary shapes and sartorial skills focusing on masculine elegance. Dima Leu won Who's next 2020 and the Franca Sozzani prize for menswear.

VÌEN the brand founded by the Italian designer Vincenzo Palazzo, combines tailoring with streetwear. ​In Vìen’s project, music and fashion are closely connected. Its SS collection is a reference to acid house style from the second half of the 1980s.

A-COLD-WALL - A streetwear menswear label launched in late 2015 by Samuel Ross. He named the Fashion Awards British Emerging Menswear Designer in 2018 and as a finalist for both the Lvmh Prize and Andam Award. A-Cold-Wall made its debut with its 2018 Spring/Summer show in London fashion week and he collaborated with Nike, Oakley, and the design company Futura Laboratories.

DALPAOS - Founded by Nicola D’alpaos, the winner of Who is on next? 2020, and finalist of the Cnmi-Green Carpet Talent. The brand is characterized by unisex clothes made with natural fibers, recycled plastic, and luxury deadstock fabrics, reinterpreting classic garments in a modern way.

HAN KJØBENHAVN - A Danish ready-to-wear brand established by Jannik Wikkelsø Davidson in 2008. The label roots in both Danish design and suburban culture, creating unconventional garments with a focus on craftsmanship.

CHILDREN OF THE DISCORDANCE - The brand is an emergent label from Tokyo started by Hideaki Shikama in 2011. The collections focus on tailoring, artisanal, and sustainability, using upcycled materials enriched with patchwork and print. Children of the discordance find its identity in skateboarding and hip-hop music, together with the contemporary street culture.

DHRUV KAPOOR - The Indian designer Dhruv Kapoor he established his eponymous brand in 2013, showcasing the first capsule collection in 2014 in Mumbai, and was awarded the Vogue India Fashion Fund 2015 declaring it the best emerging design talent from the country. Synonymous with revolution, transformation, and independence, the label reflects contemporary society and its interactions with the most diverse cultures where the convention is redefined through new perspectives.

TÍSCAR ESPADAS founded her eponymous brand in 2019. With her first collection called “Capitulo I” she was selected as a finalist in the Big Design Award in Tokyo. Besides that, her clothes and paintings had been exhibited at different museums and galleries in the UK, Spain, Japan, among others. During the Men Milan Fashion Week SS22 she showed her third collection Capitulo III, where each garment is unique and handcrafted by local manufacturers.
