Modem selected eight brands of designers who unveiled their collections during Paris Fashion Week, Spring Summer 2022 edition, held from June 22 to 27, 2021.

SULVAM was founded by Japanese designer Teppei Fujita in 2014. Fujita began his career in fashion working as a pattern maker for Yohji Yamamoto Maison, he won the “Tokyo Fashion Award” in 2014 and was later awarded the Vogue price "Who is on Next? Dubai” in 2015. The designer takes a deconstructed approach to men’s ready-to-wear and reinterprets the traditional tailoring in a strongly contemporary key focusing on high-quality materials, patterns, and innovative silhouettes. The SS22 collection is a combination of fabrics and explores a color palette of black, white, and blue.

KIDILL - Hiroaki Sueyasu showed a streetwear collection with tailored dresses for men decorated by delicate frills and ribbons, and garments enriched by the artworks of British graphic artist Trevor Brown. Instead, the details as bondage belt, docked pieces of the harness, and skirt unveil the fruit of the collaboration with Japanese rope tying artist Hajime Kinoko.

FACETASM - Titled "A Sight With A Kiss,” the SS22 collection of Facetasm mixes traditional tailoring, sporty outerwear, and streetwear, complete with layering, different fabrics, unfinished hems, and asymmetric shapes. Following the stylistic codes of the designer Hiromichi Ochiai, known for its playful and unisex silhouettes.

YOHJI YAMAMOTO - Jacket, in its various expressions, is key to the Yohji Yamamoto SS22 collection presented through a film made in collaboration with the fashion photographer Takay, with music by Jiro Amimoto. Delicate superposition, deconstructed, and oversized lines characterize each look, among newspaper prints, flower prints drawing of ears and eyes, paintings of the Japanese artist Yuuka Asakura.

Y/PROJECT - Winner of the Andam Grand Prize in 2017 and 2020, Y/Project stood out for its strong identity and distinct aesthetic. Designer Glenn Martens, who also debuted at the creative helm of Diesel in Milan, presented his second unified men's and women's collection during the fashion week in Paris. In addition to its denim pieces, including jeans with graphic details, skirts, shirts, and jackets, there were synthetic leather jackets, evening gowns, coats, tailored suits, and pieces in collaboration with Italian sportswear brand Fila and Melissa for shoes. Among asymmetrical or twisted necklines, bright colors, and huge earrings.

PHIPPS - Spencer Phipps creates his pieces remaining faithful to the core brand values of craft, quality, and environmental responsibility. For the spring-summer 2022, the designer presented a collection entitled "It Starts Now" divided into three parts, each of which shows different types of masculinities, with references to the philosopher Alan Watts and the wrestler John Cena, and using recycled materials. “This season I wanted to look at masculinities, and more specifically at the tribalism of manhood and its many rites of passage, rituals, and cultural signifiers throughout history in its many different forms, to perhaps arrive at a conclusion to the question of “what is a man today?”, noted the American designer.

MAISON MIHARA YASUHIRO - For the next spring-summer season, Maison Mihara Yasuhiro presented a coed collection entitled "Usual" through a film set in Tokyo International Airport. The silhouettes are oversized, denim is deconstructed and knitwear is ripped. The looks combine different fabrics, running the gamut from tailoring, sports pieces, and garments for every day.

ZIGGY CHEN - The project of Shanghai-born fashion designer Ziggy Chen for his homonymous brand is to create a balance between contemporary and traditional through clothing, focusing on the research and detailing of simple volumes. The SS22 collection made of patchworks and layers that represent the Dna of the brand, pays homage to classical Chinese painting, which populates the garments. By combining different fabrics, prints, and colors
