The Haute Couture has returned to physical shows. Prestigious Maison and emergent designers presented from July 05 to 15, 2021 their collections dedicated to the fall-winter 2021 season. Modem selected eight brands.

Aelis
Launched by designer Sofia Crociani, Aelis Couture reinterprets the couture in a contemporary and modern way, creating ethical and sustainable collections. For the FW21 creations, Aelis delivers her eco-conscious reflection by embodying the beauty of the plant world. To suggest a harmonious and respectful vision of the planet, she adopts the point of view of a blade of grass, stem of chlorophyll, symbol of life and renaissance, which green color inspired the entire collection. The green ocean of the Tuscan hills retains traces of ancient cultures, such as the Etruscans’, which also nourished the entire collection. The myth of Catha, the goddess daughter of the sun, and the freedom and refinement of Etruscan women who lived in harmony with nature, inspire and crystallize the very essence of Aelis.

Iris Van Herpen
A pioneer with laser cutting and 3-D printing, the Dutch couturier Iris Van Herpen unites on her couture creations technologies with intricate artisanal craftsmanship, exploring new forms of expression for a more diverse and conscious fashion for the future. The Amsterdam-based designer called her latest collection “Earthrise,” which is inspired by the cyclical processes of planet Earth, and includes 19 looks, many of which are made from ocean plastic fabric produced by Parley for the Oceans, the program aimed at reducing the pollution of the oceans. The designer collaborates with world champion skydiver Domitille Kiger.

Yuima Nakazato
The Japanese designer began making clothes by self-education before entering the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp's Fashion Department. He combines technology and craftsmanship in his creative processes, and this FW21 “Evoke” collection is his 10th couture collection.

Clara Daguin
Born in France and grew up in the Silicon Valley, with work experiences at the Maison Martin Margiela, Hussein Chalayan, and Iris Van Herpen, Clara Daguin is part of the emergent haute couture designers. With her creations in which coexist design, technology, and science, the young Parisian fashion designer goes beyond the limits of experimentation, always focusing on craftsmanship and know-how.

Charles de Vilmorin
Known for his colorful style, the young French designer, who is also the creative director of the brand Rochas (he will debut next September in Paris), presented inside Maison Baccarat in Paris the fall couture collection, together with a short film directed by Colin Solal Cardo.

Pyer Moss
Pyer Moss designer Kerby Jean-Raymond is the first Black-American designer presenting as a guest of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. He made his couture debut with Pyer Moss showing a collection staged in Madam C.J. Walker's, which pays homage to the history of Black inventions.

Balenciaga
Balenciaga returns to haute couture after 53 years since the last collection presented by its founder Cristóbal Balenciaga. The revolutionary collection designed by Demna Gvasalia moves forward with a look back to the past, showing austere and rigorous creations. The outfits feature perfect cuts and materials of the highest quality, including handcrafted denim and t-shirts, long gloves, and hats created by the Irish milliner Philip Treacy.

Valentino
Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli has chosen the Gaggiandre location at the Arsenale in the city of Venice to stage his Valentino Des Ateliers couture collection. Focusing on the conversation between art and fashion, Piccioli collaborated with an international pool of 17 contemporary artists to create some of his 84 looks. From Jamie Nares and Sofia Silvia to Rui Wu, Andrea Respino, Allen, and Coser....
