Paris Fashion Week: five brands appearing on the calendar for the first time

Steven Passaro
Born in France with Portuguese heritage Steven Passaro founded his eponymous label in 2019 after graduating from London College of Fashion with a MA in fashion design technology with distinction. Before he studied Set Design at Duperré in Paris and he had a first experience at Maison Christian Dior in Paris. He showcased his first collection during Men’s London Fashion week in January 2019. His creations incorporates genderless codes through architectural pieces characterized by a Parisian couture spirit mixed with the traditional tailoring techniques. The brand is a modern and sustainable fashion highlighted by its cutting-edge 3D design techniques.

Bianca Saunders
Menswear designer Bianca Saunders launched her eponymous label after graduating from the The Royal College of Art ‘Masters of Arts’ in 2017. Addressing the tension between tradition and modernity, between the masculine and the feminine, Bianca Saunders is forging her own space within the changing cultural landscape of fashion. Taking inspiration from her British and West Indian background, Saunders approaches design with a multi-disciplinary attitude that brings cross-cultural references into a modern and reinvigorated evolution of menswear. In 2018, Bianca Saunders was selected by the British Fashion Council as ‘One To Watch’, she won the British Fashion Council’s NewGen Prize and in 2021 the ANDAM Grand Prize.

Rains
Founded by three friends Philip Lotko, Daniel Brix, and Kenneth Davis, Rains made its debut as a niche outerwear lifestyle brand in 2012. The collections blend a conceptual-meets-functional design approach, a strong urban inspiration, and a signature fabric identity. A coated waterproof fabric palette inspired by Rains’ first design, a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic rubber raincoat. Rains is characterized by a neo-Scandinavian aesthetic and a unisex style.

EgonLab
Launched in 2019 by Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix, the genderless French label take its name from the iconoclastic Viennese artist Egon Schiele. The emerging brand, which is dedicated to supporting social movements, draws its inspiration from societal culture and all forms of revolution in the modern world. The duo won the 2021 Pierre Bergé Andam award.

Blue Marble
Filipino-French designer Anthony Alvarez founded his menswear brand Blue Marble in 2019. Before he established a career in fashion, Alvarez worked in finance in New York and London, after graduating from Cornell University. In 2016, he left the finance world and started traveling. Thanks to a trip to the Philippines he discovered his passion for fashion. In 2017, he established Oneculture, a streetwear brand inspired by cultural diversity and travel. The brand was renamed Blue Marble a year after. The aesthetic of the brand dedicated to a contemporary man combines streetwear, luxury, sportswear and tailored elements.
