The Lvmh Prize for Young Designers has announced the 20 semifinalists for the 9 edition of the annual design competition. The prize is back as a live event taking place during Paris Fashion Week.
On March 4 and 5, the twenty semi-finalists will present their collections and their creative world at a showroom in the French capital. On this occasion, the international Experts of the Prize, specialists from the world of fashion, will vote for the eight finalists. This year once again, the Lvmh Prize will be held digitally on the dedicated website lvmhprize.com and involve the general public: from March 4 to 9, everyone will be able to discover the designers and vote for their favorite candidate.

The 20 semifinalists, selected from more than 1,900 candidates from alla over the world, hail from 13 countries: Belgium, Canada, China, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Nigeria, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and, for the first time, Sri Lanka, encompassing a great diversity of cultures and talents.

The twenty semi-finalists are driven by an optimistic and innovative vision,” said {Delphine Arnault, executive vice president of Louis Vuitton. “They all place eco-responsibility at the heart of their creative approach with the use of recycled materials, upcycling, etc. They are also very keen on integrating a more ethical production system, while some place the spotlight on local and traditional know-how. The fluidity of womenswear and menswear is another key feature of this edition.”

The winner of the Lvmh Prize for Young Fashion Designers receives a 300,000-euro endowment and enjoys a year-long mentoring by a dedicated Lvmh team.
The Karl Lagerfeld Prize also rewards a young designer with a 150,000-euro allocation and allows him or her to benefit from a year of mentoring.
