Milan Fashion Week took place from February 22 to 28, unveiling the new collection dedicated to the fall-winter 2022-23 season. Modem selected six brands presenting for the first time in the women's calendar.

AC9
Sicilian designer Alfredo Cortese launched the brand AC9 (AC are the initials of his name) in September 2019. A linear and clean, Nordic aesthetic and special attention to the artisanal aspect is the dna of the brand. The collections are characterized by fluid silhouettes and versatile styles, rich in an unconsciously sensual charm to express irreverent femininity. Seductive clothes with disarming simplicity, provocatively sophisticated, made with exclusive details.

Andreadamo
Italian designer Andrea Adamo founded the brand that bears his name in 2020, in full lockdown. The label was born from the need of the designer to express his creativity without constraints. Andreadamo is a result of research and experimentation, the materials used are almost like a second skin, some are figure-hugging to create bold body shapes. The silhouettes are atypical. Before founding his label, Andrea Adamo has collaborated with names the likes of Roberto Cavalli, Zuhair Murad, Dolce & Gabbana.

Tokyo James
Tokyo James was founded in 2015 by a former stylist and editor, the British-Nigerian designer Iniye Tokyo James. The designer, 2022 Lvmh Prize finalist, brings together in his garments his dual roots combining traditional British tailoring and African techniques. The FW22 collection, entitled Resilience, represents a positive message full of hope. In response to the ebbs and flows of life, the designer chose an intense inspection of a frog. "The frog’s ability to adapt to almost any condition," said the designer in a statement. The collection features cropped jackets, experimental cuts, and the signature ruching detail that has become a staple technique for the brand and gives a rough finish akin to the skin of more giant toads.

Ambush
Founded in 2008 by the Tokyo-based duo Yoon and Verbal, both studied at Boston University (Yoon studied Graphic Design and Verbal studied Philosophy and Marketing). The duo has collaborated with the likes of Sacai, Colette, and Kitsuné. Verbal began his career in the music industry. In April 2018 Yoon was appointed jewelry designer at Dior Men after Kim Jones has been nominated creative director of the brand.

Han Kjøbenhavn
Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen is the founder and creative director of Han Kjøbenhavn, the ready-to-wear brand launched in Copenhagen and originally born as an eyewear brand in 2008. The aesthetics of the brand blend raw suburban culture with avant-garde Scandinavian design. The vision of Han Kjøbenhavn is to create an unconventional universe in balance with creativity and innovation.

Cormio
Jezabelle Cormio is the mind behind the women’s wear brand Cormio, officially launched in September 2019 with the presentation of the spring 2020 collection. Born in 1990 in New York to an Italian father and an American mother, Cormio grew up in Rome and after high school moved to Belgium to study at the Royal Academy of Antwerp, where she graduated in fashion design. In 2013, Humberto Leon, co-founder of fashion brand Opening Ceremony, selected some garments from her graduation collection to sell in the retailer’s stores worldwide. In 2020, she was selected by the fashion house Gucci to participate in the Gucci Fest. For her unconventional collections, she takes inspiration from the Austro-Tyrolian world focusing on experimental knitting techniques.
