The project Yu Prize, a design competition organized by Chinese entrepreneur Wendy Yu to promote China's emerging fashion designers, revealed the 10 talents shortlisted for the second edition.

Alienant, Chan Chit Lo, Didu, Louis Shengtao Chen, Marrknull, Ponder.er, Private Policy, Ruohan, Yirantian, and ZI II CI IEN are the 10 Chinese brands selected by a panel of judges including Shanghai Fashion Week’s vice secretary general Lu Xiaolei, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s executive president Pascal Morand, OTB Group president Renzo Rosso, Vogue Italia’s Sara Sozzani Maino, Harrods managing director Michael Ward and founder & president of Yu Holdings Wendy Yu.

The competition will grant the winner a cash prize of 1 million renminbi or $155,000 as well as a spot at the Sphere showroom during Paris Fashion Week, a show slot on the occasion of Shanghai Fashion Week, a 12-month mentorship with OTB Group, retail support from Harrods, and promotional support on China’s social commerce platform Xiaohongshu, a new partnership for this year's edition. The winner will be revealed during Shanghai Fashion Week. The prize is supported by the Shanghai Fashion Week and the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode.

For the final, the 10 brands are required to create two looks, one conceptual and one commercial, inspired by the theme “Soaring Aspirations.” The selected designers will present their looks together with production samples for assessment and scoring in person at the jury on March 15, at The Harrods Residence Shanghai in the Middle House.

We want to make the Yu Prize as relevant to real life as possible, helping designers to build powerful industry connections as well as gain access to commercial opportunities," Wendy Yu, founder of the Yu Prize, said. "Our partners and their platforms are crucial in providing this added level of strategic value for participating designers. I’m thrilled that our 10 finalists will not only gain recognition, but also have the chance to collaborate with established brands and pioneering companies such as Li-Ning.”

Other awards that will be given out at the awards ceremony and gala dinner during the upcoming Shanghai Fashion Week include the Infinite Beauty Award and the Rising Voices Award.
