Portugal Fashion, the most important fashion event in Portugal now in its 50th edition, takes place from March 16 to 19, 2022, showcasing the FW 22-23 collections. This new edition, in particular, puts the spotlight on upcoming generations through the incubator Bloom, the platform launched in October 2010 aiming to support and promote the most promising Portuguese designers, who like the name Bloom suggests, they bloom, blossom, shine on the catwalks, contributing to spread a creative and modern image of the nation all over the world.
The Bloom Portugal Fashion platform moves away from the traditional concept of the runway, in order to provide new designers with shows in a more informal, urban, and multi-artistic environment. In the national editions of Portugal Fashion, in the Bloom space, the clothes are on display, despite being dressed. It is a living installation. In addition to the fashion performances, concerts, DJ sets, and artistic interventions that take place in the Bloom space. Through this intersection of different artistic expressions, Bloom is intended to promote creativity as an essential value of contemporaneity in the most diverse areas, including the economic sphere.
Among the most interesting designers promoted by Bloom there are David Catalán, Estelita Mendonça, Hugo Costa, Inês Torcato, and Susana Bettencourt and, more recently, the brand Unflower and the young designer Carolina Sobral. Fashion schools are also associated with this project, taking the opportunity to showcase the work of their students and promote fashion education in Portugal.
Bloom is the protagonist of an entire day in the calendar on March 16 and part of 17, where a Portuguese pool of young designers showcases their fall-winter 2022 collections.
