Chanel will take its Métiers d’Art collection on the road for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic struck. The collection, which was originally unveiled on December 7 at the French fashion house's Paraffection division of specialist craft ateliers on the outskirts of Paris, will be showcased with a repeat show in Florence on June 7.

Chanel last showed its Métiers d’Art line in Italy in 2015, when it staged a display at the Cinecittà film studio in Rome. Traditionally a traveling event held in destinations such as Shanghai, Rome, Edinburgh, Salzburg and Dallas, the Métiers d’Art show was held in Paris in December 2019 after the death of Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld.

Faced with the restrictions of the Covid, the current creative director Virginie Viard chose to film the collection at the Château de Chenonceau in the Loire Valley the following year in front of a single vip guest: Kristen Stewart.

In contrast to other fashion companies, Chanel did not stage any events outside of the French domestic market between the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and November 2021, the month in which the maison took the event in Dubai the repeat presentation of its cruise 2022 collection.
