The Yu Prize, now in its second year, was set up by investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Wendy Yu in association with Shanghai Fashion Week and the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode as an annual initiative to boost and support the careers of the most promising and pioneering Chinese fashion talents. The official winner of the competition will win a cash prize of 1 million renminbi or $155,000. He will also receive other additional benefits: OTB will offer a dedicated mentoring program to the winner, Harrods with a focus on retail support for the winner, and lifestyle platform Xiaohongshu, which will provide all semi-finalists with training on how to establish and increase the profile and impact of their personal and fashion brand.

Due to the situation and restrictions currently in Shanghai, sadly the Yu Prize will not be hosting an awards gala to announce this year’s winners. The winners of this second edition will be announced over the course of Digital Shanghai Fashion Week taking place from June 16 to 19, with the Grand Award being announced on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

The designers were selected by a panel of judges including Iris van Herpen, Harrods managing director Michael Ward, Madame Lu, Mary Katrantzou, Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s president Pascal Morand, OTB Group president Renzo Rosso, Sarah Mower, Vogue Italia’s Sara Sozzani Maino, Tasha Liu, Xuan Feng and Xiao Xue.
