The Ukraine-based fashion brand Kseniaschnaider, founded in 2011 by husband-and-wife duo Ksenia (a Ukranian fashion designer) and Anton Schnaideris (a Russian graphic designer), is best known for its conscious creativity with denim and experimental designs. Its demi-denim pieces have been a streetstyle must-have in all fashion capital. Its asymmetrical jeans have gained popularity among the likes Bella and Gigi Hadid, Adwoa Aboah, Monica Bellucci, and Dua Lipa.

Behind the brand is the development of an idea of sustainable ethic. Kseniaschnaider creates unique, versatile, avant-garde pieces using sustainable technologies and upcycled materials. Its collections include women’s and men’s upcycled, reworked, and sustainable denim and accessories with incredibly intrique design techniques and attention to detail. The creativity of the brand combines the Ukrainian heritage with modern technologies.

In Spring 2022, the duo behind Kseniaschnaider created a custom look for the “Indigo” exhibition, a show by the sustainable denim brand DL1961 dedicated to recycled and upcycled blue denim at Frieze’s gallery space at No.9 Cork Street, in Mayfair. Circularity, sustainability, and creativity are the values that the two brands share.
The immersive, interactive exhibition was an exploration of the innovative fibers and sustainable technologies that are set to disrupt the denim industry. Ksenia created [Look Name] specially for the exhibition. The jacket and pants are constructed with upcycled denim and Ksenia’s signature “fur” detailing. The “fur” is made by cutting up small rectangular pieces of denim, attaching them to the garment, and proceeding with a wash cycle which results in the voluminous fringe. The garments were produced in Ukraine and then driven to the Polish border, where they were then delivered to the gallery space in London.
