Finnish designer Jenny Hytönen won both the Grand Prize Première Vision and the Public Prize at the 37th edition of the Hyères International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories held at the Villa Noailles from October 13 to 16, 2022. The designer presented to the jury headed by a Y/Project and Diesel creative director Glenn Martens a unisex collection called “Untitled” featuring a featured a bridal veil embroidered in transparent crystals.

Currently working on knitwear for Olivier Theyskens, the Paris-based designer graduated with an award from Aalto University’s School of Art, Design and Architecture in 2021. This year’s prize also includes, in addition to €20,000 offered by Première Vision and Chanel, the chance to produce capsule collections using natural fabrics, thanks to the collaboration with the eco-friendly ready-to-wear brand ICICLE, as well as a capsule collection for the Galeries Lafayette department store. These two collections will be commercialized in the second half of 2023.

The 19M Métiers d’Arts Prize which sees Chanel as partner went to German designer Valentin Lessner, who also took home the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Prize for best incorporating sustainable methods supported by Fashion Open Studio, the British non-profit organisation campaigning for a more sustainable luxury industry.

Finnish designer Sini Saavala singled out for the inaugural L’Atelier des Matières Prize, receiving 10,000 euros worth of fabrics and leathers from the atelier. Meanwhile, the accessories grand prize went to Joshua Cannone, and Lola Mossino and Indra Eudaric have been awarded the Hermès accessories prize for their creation of a belt.
