This season Milan Fashion Week, which officially runs from Feb. 21 to 27, 2023, presents a schedule packed with 165 events, 59 fashion shows, of which 54 are physical and 5 digital, more than 70 presentations, and 29 events.
Iceberg will open the fall 2023 season on Feb. 22, which returns to the official calendar after a short break. Del Core, Alberta Ferretti, N.21, Etro, Fendi will present their fall 2023 women’s collections on the same day. Max Mara, Calcaterra, MM6 Maison Margiela, Moschino, and Gcds are among the brands that will showcase on Feb. 23. While waiting for the debut of the Neapolitan Sabato De Sarno at the creative helm of Gucci for the next September, the Italian luxury house will present its show on Feb. 24, while Act N.1 will unveil its new path with the designer Luca Lin after splitting with Galib Gassanoff, Jil Sander will close the day. On Feb. 25, it will be the turn of Missoni designed by Filippo Grazioli, Tokyo James, Han Kjøbenhavn, Bottega Veneta, and Philipp Plein. Giorgio Armani will be the protagonist of the day Feb. 26, together with the Japanese designer Tomo Koizumi supported by Dolce & Gabbana.
Avavav and Alabama Muse will debut on the calendar with a digital show on Feb. 26. Among the new entry on the presentation calendar there are Add, Boyy, the Lebanese designer Lara Chamandi, Maison Laponte, Mantù the in-house luxury brand of Italian manufacturing company Castor, Max&Co with Anna dello Russo, the jewels label Pianegonda, Spaccio Alta Maglieria, Viviers, Weekend Max Mara with Kate Phelan, Wolford, Yali, and Zineb Hazim & Karim Daoudi.
Events and anniversaries will add extra buzz to the women's week. On Feb. 21, Starbucks, together with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, will host an invitation-only dinner at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Milan that will include an exclusive musical performance by a Grammy Award-winning artist. Rene Caovilla will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Cleo shoe at its showroom on Feb. 24 through the exhibition “The Art of Making People Dream. Cleo a style icon for 50 years.” At 8 p.m. on the same day, the Black Carpet Awards “celebrating all stories” will be held at the Meet | Digital Culture Center, where diversity and inclusion within the global community will be celebrated. On Feb. 26 there will be a preview of the new documentary film directed by Emmy award winner John Maggio and produced by Alan Friedman, “Milano: The Inside Story of Italian Fashion”, scheduled at the Odeon Space Theatre at 8 p.m.
New in for this edition of Milano Fashion Week is the new location of the Fashion Hub, which moves to Palazzo Giureconsulti. The Fashion Hub will be open Feb. 22 to 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Feb. 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the opening on Fe. 22, the winner of The Best Shops Award, an initiative born from the collaboration of Cnmi and Camera Buyer Italia, will be revealed. The award includes an ad hoc communication activity on Cbi’s institutional channels directed to buyers and the inclusion for one season of its collection on ikrix.com, the association’s official marketplace.
Underlining Cnmi’s ongoing commitment to young designers, The Fashion Hub continues to be a cradle of projects, initiatives, talent and ideas. During Fashion Week, the hub becomes the headquarters of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, hosting young brands and emerging designers who find important opportunities for visibility, networking and business. The February edition enhances the work of emerging creatives and focuses on experimentation, innovation, craftsmanship, sustainability and education. The three projects presented by Cnmi for this edition are: Designers for the Planet, A Global Movement to Uplift Underrepresented Brands and Mfw Forward.
Budapest Select, the mentorship program dedicated to Hungarian talents, returns with its ninth edition. Abodi, Cukovy, Kata Szegedi and Thefour will be the protagonists of the “Budapest Select FW 2023/2024 Special Show” fashion show scheduled for Feb. 23 at 4 p.m., at Corso Italia, 58. Also, on the occasion of the Fashion Hub opening, three other brands, Pinetime Clothing, Unreal Industries, Zsigmond, will unveil their collections in the dedicated presentation room.
