Two thousand exhibitors from 37 countries, with over 550 young talents under 35 from 31 countries and 28 design schools from 18 different countries, are shaping the future of the sector, which meets in Milan not only for the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, but also for the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Workplace3.0, S.Project, Euroluce, SaloneSatellite.

“It will be a show full of novelties, open to contaminations. Design and furnishings feed on science, technological research, art, photography, digital communication, publishing and much more. The new format of the event will show this relationship by proposing a new depth of horizon – said Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile, is foreign; we are expecting thousands of visitors from Europe, the United States and China, but also from Saudi Arabia, India and Far Eastern countries”.

Among the novelties of this edition, a single exhibition level to facilitate operators and visitors. There is talk of an expectation of 300,000 people (it will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday) who will cross the entrances to the Fair. The Design Week will take place in Milan at the same time, over a thousand events that will enliven the city with the Fuorisalone. Confartigianato has released some data on the wood sector in Lombardy which has 8,000 active businesses for a sector with a high artisan vocation, 74% of the businesses. The export generated by the 5 Lombard provinces dedicated to furniture (Monza-Brianza, Como, Milan, Brescia and Bergamo) leads them to position themselves sixth in the European hybrid ranking by amount of exports and fourth, always in the same ranking, by sales dynamism foreign countries in 2021-2022 (+18.6%), higher than the +11.8% of the rest of Italy. But also from this sector comes the alarm for the difficulty of finding manpower. Among the most sought-after and unobtainable figures: upholsterers and mattress makers (91.2%), mechanics and fitters of industrial and similar machinery (80%) and installers of windows and doors (75%).
