Tom Ford’s final collection.

The break with the brand came a few months after it had been sold to the Estée Lauder group for 2.8 billion. The farewell of the Texan designer is rich with nostalgia and his "final collection" is the testament of an immortal Era that has marked the most daring rhythms and trends of the 90s.

The designer has left with a last Women’s collection presented through videos published online that later became viral on social networks. These videos show a succession of looks that retrace Tom Ford’s history and the history of the brand founded in 2005, when the American designer had left Gucci of which he had been the creative director since 1994.

The video is shot by photographer Steven Klein, under the eye of the most alluring stylist ever, Carine Roitfeld, historical friend and supporter of Ford with whom the designer has created an entire Era marked by the iconic Porn Chic style, born from their fruitful collaboration.

His latest fashion show presents a collection entitled "Archive" where the designer is the director of scene and he’s managing the movements and poses of the top models, closed for the occasion inside glass cases showcasing a kind of "last exhibition dynamic". "Archive" offers a chance to see part of Tom Ford's story directly through his eyes. The designer directs the scene like the director and this seems to be the real allusion to his professional future.

The designer has never kept his passion for the cinematographic art a secret, a passion that he has declared to nourish even in this particular moment of his career.

Ford has amply demonstrated that he also has this talent when he started a new artistic adventure debuting as director, screenwriter and film producer with the film "A Single Man" in 2008, a film about the last day of an homosexual professor and his loneliness after the death of his partner. He won for the film the Queer Lion for the best homosexual themed film and a nomination for the Leone d'Oro at the Venice Film Festival.

He again demonstrated his abilities and his passion for film again in 2016 with the film "Night Animals" , a neo noir drama film based on the 1993 novel by Austin Wright "Tony & Susan". For his second film he received several awards, such as the Leone d'Argento and a Nomination for the Leone d'Oro at the Venice Film Festival, a Golden Globe nomination for the best director and for the best screenplay, the David of Donatello for best foreign film, a nomination for best director at the British Academy Film Awards and a BAFTA nomination for best director and best non-original screenplay.

With "A single Man'', "Night Animals" and with the video "Archive", Tom Ford demonstrates again his abilities as a director, proposing a nostalgic and erotic melancholic style that has been and will be his signature, and that will make him recognizable in the world of cinema, as it was for fashion.
