Lvmh named Satoshi Kuwata, the Japanese designer and founder of Setchu, as the winner of the tenth edition of its Prize for young fashion designers, held on June 7 at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. The award, the most prestigious price in the fashion industry, was presented by actress Gal Gadot.

Japan's Satoshi Kuwata, selected from a list of nine finalists (from 22 semi-finalists), will benefit from a prize fund of 400,000 euros and personalized assistance from a specific team within the French conglomerate. This mentorship represents a unique and valuable opportunity for these young designers to be mentored by real experts and thus combine creativity and commercial success. The winner has been secreted by an international jury composed of Jonathan Anderson (of Loewe), Maria Grazia Chiuri (the Dior designer), Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones, Nigo, Stella McCartney, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Jean-Paul Claverie, Sidney Toledano, and Delphine Arnault, the Dior chief executive and the mind behind the Lvmh Prize.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize goes to Julie Pelipas, the founder of the Ukrainian women’s wear brand Bettter, and Luca Magliano of the Italian men’s wear brand Magliano. They will each receive 200,000 euros, an amount that has also been increased from last year's 150,000 euros, in addition to a year's mentoring by Lvmh teams.

Lvmh has always been devoted to supporting the talent of tomorrow. In 2014, the Group reaffirmed this commitment with the creation of the Lvmh Prize for Young Fashion Designers, open to designers from all over the world, aged 18 to 40, who have created at least two womenswear, menswear, or genderless collections. Each edition of the Prize recognizes the talent of a particularly outstanding designer, selected by a jury of artistic directors from the French house.

Since its first edition, the Lvmh Prize has rewarded several talents: Thomas Tait, Miuniki, Hood by Air, Marques’ Almeida, Simon Porte Jacquemus, Grace Wales Bonner, Vejas Kruszewski, Marine Serre, Kozaburo Akasaka, Masayuki Ino, Rok Hwang, Nensi Dojaka, S.S. Daley.
