During the opening ceremony of the 104th edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo, which took place on Tuesday, June 13, at 10:30 am, at the Unicredit Theatre in the Sala della Scherma of the Fortezza da Basso, Florence, Marco Palmieri, the founder, president and managing director of the Piquadro Group, was awarded the Pitti Immagine Uomo 2023 prize.

"Piquadro means P squared, where the P stands for Palmieri, Marco, the founder, president, and ceo of the company, which was established in 1987 in a town in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines," commented Lapo Cianchi, director of communication & events and vice general director of Pitti Immagine. "And it stands for leather goods, 'pelletteria' in Italian. Based on an intuition to bring the style and quality of Made in Italy production to travel items, Piquadro has created products that combine design, functionality, and performance, innovative industrial processes and craftsmanship, high-tech vocation, and premium materials, often sourced from the Tuscan tanning district."

"Piquadro conveys an evolved image of Italian fashion, thanks to astute management and market success strengthened by its listing on the Stock Exchange and a solid distribution network. However, Marco Palmieri's foresight is also evident in translating present needs into investments in the future. Leading the way is their commitment to environmental sustainability, initiated well ahead of the curve: from the use of recycled materials to supply chain control, from the pursuit of energy efficiency to emission reduction. They are also involved in philanthropic initiatives and support for local communities and new enterprises. Furthermore, the P squared may also stand for Pitti Uomo, of which Palmieri, with Piquadro, has been an exhibitor for many seasons and among the most representative," concluded Cianchi.
