Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo is now in its 18th year, 37th in total, and 5th year as “Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo (hereinafter called “Rakuten FWT”)” since the first “Japan Fashion Week from Tokyo” was held in October 2005.
With an increase in physical presentations and having gone through a FW 2023 season with a real feel of being released, in the 2024 fiscal year, the Japan Fashion Week Organization (hereinafter indicated as JFWO) will be hoisting the theme of “Open, Fashion Week” throughout the year. Based on the new format of “fusing of digital and physical” and “strengthening of power to transmit globally”, the organization aims to present an event with an even further sense of openness, along with continuing to develop a variety of contents, further strengthening national and international transmission of information on the event.
The “Open” in “Open, Fashion Week” stands not only for transactions with outside sources, but also stands for a releasing of values, expressionisms, and minds of each individual. Based on the fact that society and the whole world has begun to move dynamically, from this season on to the next FW 2024 season, the event intends to create “Open”-ness in a variety of scenes, through real events and digital exchange/diffusion.
In this upcoming SS 2024 season, the official schedule features a total of 50 brands, including 1 brand giving a presentation through “by R”, a program of Rakuten Group, Inc. to support Japanese brands. Physical presentations by 35 brands, digital presentations by 15 brands, among which, 13 are first-time participants, and 7 brands participating from overseas are scheduled to participate (as of July 25).
The event is scheduled to be held at the main venues of Shibuya Hikarie and Omotesando Hills, along with other venues chosen by individual brands.
