The Burberry Foundation has been supporting Save the Children since 2011, raising vital funds for emergency work for children all over the world. The Burberry Foundation and Save the Children have come together to support young people impacted by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The global partnership was officially announced in October 2023.
The result of this partnership is named ‘Life Chances,’ a programme aiming to help Ukrainian refugees recover by furthering their education and career prospects, improving social and emotional well-being, and empowering them to become agents of change within their communities.
The programme is launching exclusively in Poland to support Ukrainian refugees and Polish youth aged 14-18 to navigate the complex realities of forced displacement by giving them the tools and skills they need to have a better chance at leading happy, healthy lives, where all can reach their full potential and continue learning within their new environment. Poland continues to be home to a large population of Ukrainian refugees, but it is estimated that only 44 per cent of Ukrainian children were enrolled within a local school at the end of the 2022/2023 academic year. Due to the expanding young population and increased demand for schooling, educational establishments in the country are struggling to meet the needs of young people.
The programme Life Chances aims to address these gaps, by providing holistic support to young people whilst they adapt to life in their host country during a pivotal time in their lives.
