CNMI-Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana joined COP28 Dubai with an event in the Italian Pavilion titled "Climate Change is not Cool: A Sustainability Message from the Fashion World."

This opportunity highlighted Italian luxury fashion's efforts in reducing environmental impact and meeting UN objectives. Organized by CNMI and the UN Alliance for Sustainable Fashion, the event aimed to showcase CNMI's commitments to sustainability, focusing on strategies like circular economy practices, new business models, and biodiversity protection initiatives within the fashion industry.

During the speech “From Competition to Cooperation”, Carlo Capasa, president of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana emphasized the responsibility of Italy: “Italy has a great responsibility as the world's largest producer of luxury goods. Twelve years ago, when we started our sustainability roadmap, we set as primary values the sharing of knowledge and the active collaboration of all the major players in our industry to find and apply solutions to common objectives".

Capasa continued speaking to the audience and the vast number of people connected via streaming, noting that in 2011 the CNMI, the first of the international fashion chambers, created a working group with the managers of the associated companies, which is still carried out today, publishing lines guidance on various aspects of sustainability (eco-toxicological requirements, retail sustainability, social responsibility).
