Created by the LVMH Group in 2015 to preserve and perpetuate the best of the manufacturing world within the luxury industries, LVMH Métiers d’Art inaugurates La Main, a new space at Rue de Réaumur in the 2nd arrondissement in Paris, dedicated to craftsmanship and creativity coming from all over the world. The restoration was carried out by the architect Clément Lesnoff-Rocard.
"The name of the building, La main, was chosen as a symbol of the skilled hands that give life to LVMH's Métiers d'art on a global level, hands that tan, weave, sculpt, sew, and give shape to the future of luxury", explained the ceo of LVMH Métiers d'art, Matteo de Rosa. "But it is also a strong symbol of the group's collective identity. Each métier retains its own history and particular character, but acquires immeasurable strength and purpose when seen as part of the whole, united like the fingers of a hand, which individually excel but together create an entity far greater than their sum".
The industrial structure topped with a glass roof, which expands over 770 square meters, has been reimagined as a space created to inspire dialogue and encourage collaboration and creativity, with ideas that bring innovation into luxury craftsmanship.
"This building symbolizes LVMH Métiers d'art's commitment to craftsmanship in each creation. It highlights the mastery of numerous crafts linked together like the five fingers of a hand, transforming raw materials into exceptional pieces, step by step", commented Jean Baptiste Voisin, strategic director of the LVMH group and president of LVMH Métiers d'art. "This showroom is a place for meeting, exchange, research, and work. It is an intersection of skills, a fabric woven from tradition and innovation, created by the hands of our artisans who work with passion. It is here that ideas come to life, here that luxury products are imbued with a distinctive character".
