Wessel & Vett Fashion Prize (WVFP) announced four finalists for its 2024 edition, highlighting the Prize’s dedication to supporting designers characterized by immersive distinctiveness and originality in their styles, as well as the commercial potential to build a global fashion business. Now in its 12th year, the Prize continues to support and promote original Danish fashion designers, reaffirming its commitment to supporting and elevating Danish fashion brands and designers to their full potential. The finalits are Skall Studio, founded in 2014 by sisters Julie and Marie Skall; Stem, founded by textile designer Sarah Brunnhuber; OpéraSport, founded in 2019 by Stephanie Gundelach and Awa Malina Stelter; and Sunflower, the brand founde in 2018 by Ulrik Pedersen.
The Wessel & Vett Fashion Prizeis dedicated to fostering sustainable brands and promoting a responsible fashion industry. As a testament to this commitment, this year’s finalists will gain unprecedented international exposure through their participation in
significant initiatives abroad, providing them with a never-seen-before visibility for global promotion. Sponsored by the Wessel & Vett Foundation, this year’s ultimate winner will receive a prestigious cash prize of 500,000 dkk (€67,000), announced on October 24 by Nina Wedell-Wedellsborg, founder of the Prize. The finalists, meticulously selected by a panel of industry experts, will be officially announced during the Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 Opening Reception. These designers will showcase their brands and business strategies at the final event in October 2024. The Prize has a history of endorsing leading international and local industry experts, having previously been awarded to brands such as Amalie Roege Hove, Cecilie Bahnsen, and Saks Potts, who have since emerged as prominent figures in both the Nordic and international fashion scenes.
As part of the continued sponsorship and collaboration with Copenhagen Fashion Week, the WVFP winner receives prime opportunities, including a complimentary slot on the official show and presentation schedule for both AW25 and SS26 seasons, the coveted opening slot for AW25, and participation in Copenhagen Fashion Week’s symposium in London during London Fashion Week in June 2025. Flights are covered for one representative from the winning brand, enhancing their global exposure and industry recognition.
