At Milano Fashion Week, held from September 17 to 22, 2024, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana presents another edition of Fashion Hub, with the support from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ice-International Cooperation and Italian Trade Agency, which have always provided support for innovative start-ups and emerging brands.
The Fashion Hub, staged at Palazzo Giureconsulti in the heart of Milan, will host a series of initiatives and activities with a focus on brand promotion and emerging designers. The activities and projects planned for this new edition of the event will leverage Cnmi’s fundamental values, including experimentation, innovation, craftsmanship, sustainability, inclusion and education.
The projects showcased at this edition of the Fashion Hub are: Designers for the Planet, Resonance: Voices of Seoul, Mfw Forward, Mfw New Wave, Regione Puglia Land of Fashion, Latin American Fashion Awards Winners Exhibition, Educational Talks, Cross-Cultural Business Conversations.
The Designers for the Planet project involves nine brands that take account of various sustainability factors when they create and produce their collections. The designers taking part in the project were selected by a technical panel chaired by Cnmi president Carlo Capasa, with Michela Giocchini, head of Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility, Tod’s Group; Maria Vittoria Ronchi, accademia manager, Valentino; Rina Tollio, creatives talent acquisition, OTB spa; Veronica Tonini, Esg & sustainability strategy advisor. The nine brands selected for this edition are: Chez Nous, Hikari No Yami, Maragno, Meriisi, Oh Carla, Pecoranera, Plas Collective, Reclothing Bank, Susan Wagner.
For this edition, the Seoul Metropolitan Government worked with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana to facilitate global K-brand promotion and attract interest from international buyers and media channels. A selection of emerging K-fashion brands will present their collections at the Fashion Hub, where designers will have the opportunity to meet leading fashion industry players, promote the value of K-fashion on the global and European market and lay the groundwork for entering foreign markets. The brands were selected by a panel made up of Valentina Abate, fashion news associate, Tobia Beretta, vice president Antonioli Group; Boyoung Lee, chief brand officer of Shinsegae; Tommaso Palazzi caposervizio MFFashion, Orietta Pelizzari, global cross cultural business advisor in Fashion and Luxury Consumer Goods; Sabrina Scarpellini, co-founder and fashion director, Massimo Bonini; Eun Hyuk Yim, professor at SungKyunKwan University, Paola Arosio; head of Sustainability and New Brands. The five brands selected are: Bonbom, EENK, Julycolumn, MMAM, Youser.
In September, Cnmi will also present the Mfw New Wave project to give visibility to other brands and projects. As part of this project, different brands will take turns to present their collections in the open gallery outside Palazzo Giureconsulti. The brands involved in this first edition of the project will be: San Andres Milano, Rose Society Atelier, Trashy Clothing.
In addition, partner Fashion Zoo, a leading Chinese youth culture magazine and platform of fashion, art and creativity, will organise an event on September 17 and 18 to present its selection of emerging Chinese designers: Amazing Panda, Buerlangma, Caroline Hú, Feng Chen Wang, Liwen Liang, Louis Shengtao Chen, Mind The Gap (Mtg), Moution X Bihan Lin, Permu, Ruiyu Zheng, Shangxia, 022397Bluff.
Also, in the framework of the Fashion Hub, Regione Puglia Land of Fashion- Department for the Promotion of Trade, Craftsmanship and Business Internationalisation, in partnership with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, has developed a promotion and communication project to showcase manufacturing excellence in Puglia. The main focus of the initiative is on the issues of sustainability, emerging creativity, education and training, and young designers.
In this edition too, the Sala Parlamentino in Palazzo Giureconsulti will be brought to life throughout the week by a packed program of Educational Talks featuring foundations, companies and associations that will explore various issues and content with the aim of informing, educating, developing insights and sharing experiences. The Educational Talks will investigate issues ranging from sustainability to nature, new business models, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, media & entertainment, craftsmanship and cultural change.
The program of Educational Talks will be accompanied by a program of Cross Cultural Business Conversations, a tutorship project for Fashion Hub designers involving numerous conversations and private discussions with industry professionals, including buyers, retailers and managers from Italy, Korea, China, Usa, South Africa, Kazakhstan and the Middle East. The aim of the project is to offer the designers the chance to learn more about the Italian fashion industry. The main themes covered are fashion trends, international markets and the needs of today’s consumers.
