The final of the 11th edition of the Lvmh Prize for Young Fashion Designers took place on 10th September 2024 at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. This year saw the launch of a new award: the Savoir-Faire Prize. It focuses on exceptional craftsmanship, technical expertise, innovation or sustainability in a young brand.
Among the eight finalists, the Jury awarded the Lvmh Prize to Ellen Hodakova Larsson, 32, a Swedish designer, founder of the womenswear brand Hodakova. She will receive a 400,000€ endowment and will be mentored for one year by a team of Lvmh experts.
Ellen Hodakova Larsson established her namesake brand in 2021 in Stockholm where it is based. A visionary in her field, Ellen Hodakova Larsson is dedicated to building the first fully sustainable fashion house in the world and changing people’s mindset. Ellen is championing craftsmanship by choosing existing products and transforming them into luxury pieces. To change the industry, she pursues a flexible business model, with limitation and rules to explore the creativity within. Working with discarded pieces compels her to focus on quality, potential and craftsmanship. “I believe that we connect to a piece on a deeper level if it has a history and possesses beauty and sentimental value,” she said.
The Karl Lagerfeld Prize was awarded to Duran Lantink, 36, a Dutch designer, founder of the womenswear, menswear and genderless brand Duran Lantink. It includes a 200,000€ endowment and a year’s mentorship by the Lvmh Group.
