KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency), the government agency of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, that promotes Korean fashion, music, comics, animation and cinema around the world, has opened its first Italian office in Milan and has signed an agreement with Pitti Immagine.
“KOCCA Italia will serve as a vital bridge for collaboration between Italian cultural industry stakeholders and Korean companies and artists. Our headquarters will closely support these efforts, and our activities in Italy will provide a significant opportunity to enhance the creative synergy between Korea and Italy,” commented Rak Kyun Kim, general manager, KOCCA Headquarters.
«For our only national headquarters in Italy we chose Milan, recognized globally as the capital of fashion and the production of multimedia content. However, the agency's activity will be widespread throughout the territory, with cultural exchanges and agreements with institutions, starting precisely from Pitti Immagine," said Stella Heensun Suh, director of Kocca Italy.
“Our organizations have worked together before, always with mutual satisfaction, but the project that KOCCA planned for June 2025 at Pitti Uomo sets a strategic leap forward,” explained Agostino Poletto, general manager of Pitti Immagine. “The project will benefit from both the show and its global dimension and the Korean brands involved will find special attention from buyers and media visiting the show in Florence. The Korean fashion system has taken an absolutely prominent position on the international scene, and we are honored and happy that KOCCA and the Korean government thought of Pitti to hold such an important promotional event,” Poletto added.
KOCCA was founded in 2009 and is present in the world with 25 global and 7 European offices (in Paris, London, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Madrid, Istanbul and, as of today, also Milan). It supports companies that produce creative content of various kinds such as TV shows, cinema, music, video games, fashion and comics, and helps them in all phases of planning, production, distribution and communication abroad, with a targeted approach, based on the type of content to be conveyed and the target market. In this regards, among the first events of Kocca Italia there is “K-Comics World tour in Italy,” an exhibition organized in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Institute in Rome, which related to the history of Manhwa (Korean comics) and Webtoon with a special focus on some well-known works including “Solo Leveling” and “What's wrong with Secretary Kim?”. The exhibition takes place in Via Nomentana 12 an it will remain open until Nov. 29 and will be accessible to the public for free.
