The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced the nominees of its BFC Foundation Award at The Fashion Awards 2024, taking place on Monday 2 December at Royal Albert Hall in London. TFA, organised by the BFC, are the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation and celebrate the role of fashion at the intersection of culture and entertainment, spotlighting creative talent and telling the stories of the year in fashion through the lens of purpose, excellence, and creativity.
The BFC Foundation is dedicated to ensuring the future success and growth of the British fashion industry by focusing on three key areas: education, grant-giving, and business mentoring. The BFC Foundation Award recognises the purpose of TFA by celebrating the current cohort of designers receiving support through one of Foundation’s core initiatives: BFC Newgen, BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund and the BFC Fashion Trust.
The five nominees for this year’s award are current BFC Newgen recipients, Aaron Esh and Tolu Coker; BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund 2024 winner, Bianca Saunders; BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2024 winner, Chopova Lowena; and current BFC Fashion Trust recipient, Labrum London.
A Voting Committee of 1,000 leading industry members were invited to vote to determine this year's BFC Foundation Award nominees from a long list which featured all current BFC Foundation designers. Nominees for Designer of the Year, Model of the Year, British Menswear Designer, British Womenswear Designer, New Establishment Menswear, New Establishment Womenswear and British Accessories Designer can be found here. All of the winners will be announced on the night.
The 2024 accolades also include the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Outstanding Achievement Award as well as several Special Recognition Awards for exceptional contribution to the fashion industry. Additionally, the event will recognise 50 of the most innovative and inspiring young creative talent from around the world as part of New Wave: Creatives.
