The fifth edition of the Alpaca Awards Concours, organized by PromPerú France and the Swiss Confédération in partnership with ESMOD International, was held at the ESMOD Paris school, in the presence of a French-Péruvian jury of exception.
This anniversary edition was celebrated in the presence of the Director of Promperu France, Rosario Pajuelo, and the Director General of ESMOD International, Véronique Beaumont, marking five years of fruitful collaboration between PromPerú and ESMOD. After 2021, 11 students were trained in Peru, 87 ESMOD students took part in the competition, bringing a new look to 21 Péruviennes companies. This partnership allowed the creation of 19 capsule collections, revealing in each edition the richness of a creative dialogue between young talents and artisans for the future.
The creations presented this year are registered in the project cadre at the end of three years of ESMOD students. Each participant made a piece from alpaca fiber, in collaboration with local spinning mills and partner workshops. This work allowed them to discover and enhance a noble, durable, and emblematic material of the Andes. The competition was made possible thanks to the support of three industrial partners in Peru, major references in the alpaca sector: Michell, Incalpaca, and Incatops. The projects were evaluated by an international jury, composed of influential professionals from the fashion, media, and textile industries.
The big winner of this 2025 edition is Arthur Charton, originally from Dole, in the Jura region. His sportswear collection revisits the world of hiking by combining technicality and aesthetics. He uses materials such as wool, nylon, and lace to create a subtle contrast between performance and elegance. Arthur subverts the codes of formal clothing by merging them with those of outdoor wear, like shirt collars, structured cuffs, textured accents, and inserts. The result is a colorful and bold world, where each piece tells a personal and committed story.
Arthur Charton will fly to Peru on July 14, in the heart of Andean textile design, alongside companies from the Cusco, Huancayo, and Arequipa regions. This trip will allow him to discover local expertise and create a unique collection of twelve silhouettes, which he will present at the Expo Perú Los Andes trade show on September 18 in Cusco.
Considering the high quality of the pieces presented this year, the jury was keen to award two honorable mentions. The first, to Maewenn Bian, for the excellence of her piece, the originality of her creative approach, and the technical mastery demonstrated. The second goes to Nina Tramoni, whose work particularly impressed with its sensitivity and the finesse of its aesthetic choices. These two young designers, alongside the winner, embody the next generation of innovative, conscious fashion connected to the world's expertise.
For Peruvian companies, this collaboration represents a unique opportunity to renew their creative vision through contact with young international designers. For students, it's an immersive and educational experience, plunging them into the heart of the emblematic regions of the alpaca industry.
This fifth edition confirms the international reach of the Alpaca Awards competition and its essential role in promoting alpaca fiber to new generations of designers, while strengthening cultural and economic ties between France and Peru.
