BAM Open Air Design is a project conceived by Coima Image in collaboration with the Riccardo Catella Foundation and MoscaPartners: an exhibition dedicated to the world of avant-garde design and outdoor architecture. Born from Alida Catella's vision, BAM Open Air Design focuses on nature, culture, and education as its main values. BAM Open Air Design will take place from September 18 to 21, 2025, at BAM - Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano.
To promote the contamination between art, design, and architecture, the event program includes talks with special guests, workshops, and moments of conviviality.
This edition's theme, Frames of Nature, draws inspiration from the world of cinema: like design, cinema can construct imaginations, inspire change, and innovate aesthetic language. Through installations, performances, and talks, audiences will enjoy an immersive experience combining nature, design, and storytelling.
This year, Open Air Design is enriched with an auteur film curation by Muse Factory of Projects to develop the cultural program. The festival features a selection of Italian and international documentaries that explore the relationship between humanity and nature, exploring the significance of design in relation to the landscape, with presentations, meetings with directors, and discussions with featured companies.
Twelve brands will be featured, including Artemide and BI.CI, Dynamo, Ecocontract, Garc, Gessi, Kartell, Antonio Marras, Nodo Italia, Medit, Poliform, Slalom, and Tecnomont transform BAM into a vast open-air set, with installations that showcase their vision and creative journey.
Open Air Design renews its dialogue with younger generations by involving three important Milanese institutions: the School of Design at the Politecnico di Milano, with students from the Communication Design degree program and the "Fermo Immagine" workshop; the Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti with two workshops dedicated to AI education; and the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado with the curation of the closing performance. This is an opportunity to welcome new visions and visual experiments inspired by the theme "Frames of Nature."
