The biannual Latin American Fashion Awards ceremony was held at Casa de Campo Resort and Villas in La Romana, Dominican Republic, from November 6 to 9, 2025. It was hosted by Becky G and Mexican actor, Luis Gerardo Méndez. The four-day weekend celebration reunited celebrities, top-tier fashion industry leaders, international jury members, influencers, international press, and creatives to honor and support Latin American creatives shaping the global fashion industry.
“This second edition is a celebration of unity, identity, and the women who give life to our heritage,” said Argüello and Etro in a statement. “With Donatella Versace leading our jury, we felt the power of global sisterhood and the beauty of solidarity through creativity. Hot by Heritage was our way of honoring the past while igniting the future, proving that when we come together as a community, our culture doesn’t just shine, it transforms the world.”
In its second year, LAFA expanded to include the inaugural Carmen Busquets Couture Prize, which celebrates couture craftsmanship across Latin America and comes with a $50,000 grant and mentorship. This year, the prize was awarded to Luar, the brand designed by Raul Lopez, for his exceptional work in traditional craftsmanship.
Other honorees this year included Mexican Designer Patricio Campillo of Campillo as the Emerging Designer of the Year, Agua by Agua Bendita as the Brand of the Year, and Juanel Hernandez as the Dominican Republic Local Star of the Year. The Designer of the Year award was won by Willy Chavarria (Mexico). Maluma received the Fashion Icon of the Year.
LAFA’s international jury included Versace, Garcia, Steven Kolb, Carlo Capasa, Karla Martinez de Salas, Anna Dello Russo, Carlos Nazario, Imran Ahmed, Gabriela Hearst, Kean Etro, Sara Sozzani Maino, Zelika Garcia, Carmen Busquets, Vívian Sotocórno, and Alessia Glaviano.
