Versace's creative director, Dario Vitale, is leaving the Italian fashion company after only a few months in the role. The announcement comes after the brand came under the control of Prada earlier this week following the completion of an acquisition from Capri Holdings for around 1.3 billion euros. Versace said in a statement that his successor would be "announced in due course". In the meantime, the design team will operate under the guidance of Versace ceo Emmanuel Gintzburger.
"We would like to sincerely thank Dario for his outstanding contribution to the development of the brand’s creative strategy during this transition period, and we wish him all the very best in his future endeavors," said Versace, which earlier this week came under Prada's control after a takeover was concluded.
Vitale will leave the brand on December 12. Vitale, who formerly worked closely with Miuccia Prada as the design director of Miu Miu, took over as creative director of Versace in April, succeeding Donatella Versace after nearly three decades in the role.
