Chintz: Cotton in Bloom, organised by the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden (The Netherlands), is a collection with an extraordinary story, spanning hundreds of years and thousands of miles. The exhibition explores the history of chintz fabric throughout England and Europe, the cotton textile bearing multicolored patterns. Over 150 different fabrics will be on view, from mittens to wall hangings and from extravagant 18th-century sun hats to stylish mourning dresses.
