LEXUS - LIMITLESS CO-EXISTENCE
See on Map
April 17 2018 -> April 22 2018 from 10am to 8pm
*
Visitors to the event will engage in imaginative and thought-provoking design that contemplates a limitless future for society. Lexus sees design as a catalyst for continuous change, for empowerment and for inclusiveness. Design can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, and reveal to humanity that, with “CO-“, as in cooperation, collaboration and coexistence – our possibilities are limitless.

The event’s sensational main installation created by Japanese architect Sota Ichikawa of doubleNegatives Architecture brings visitors face-to-face with “CO-” represented in a dynamic artwork existing in four dimensions. Ichikawa, known for combining information technology with design to re-imagine the physical space, creates an installation that intersects digital and analog. Built on an imaginative ideology that everyone is the center of the world, a visually infinite number of hanging vertical strings are used to represent the world’s individuals. Each hanging vertical string is simultaneously illuminated by a single light source and yet not one is in the shadows; a representation that each individual perspective is its own center. Through the use of technology and innovative design thinking, the seemingly impossible is achieved.

Lexus’ passion for design has fueled the growing appeal of the brand in recent years and in Milan, Lexus will be showcasing its newest concept - the innovative Lexus LF-1 Limitless that hints at future design thinking from Lexus.

To further excite guests, a unique culinary experience has been created by the trio of innovative young chefs that are Milan’s ALTATTO. They will hone the senses through taste and vision, transporting LIMITLESS CO-EXISTENCE into another dimension. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to view the works from the 12 Finalists from the 2018 Lexus Design Award which celebrates up and coming creative talent from around the world and on the Press Day of April 16th, the Grand Prix winner will be chosen by the world renowned Jury in front of the world’s media.

In the four decades of its history, NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti has investigated the concept of living, which over the years has increasingly combined with exploration of the new technologies. Today all this converges in projects that face innovative challenges in order to imagine different connections with the environment.
Thinking about the relationship between interior and exterior, we have come to the current idea of living on the move. NABA presents a prototype that investigates the potential offered by self driving allowing a slow use of what was once defined as the road: the city slows down and in return offers fluidity, sustainability and the ability to use travel time in a useful and pleasant way. The system, based on power supply technologies, is reorganized according to the actions it can host and implies a cultural leap in our concept of means of transport and charging. An open reflection that leads to the re-appropriation of private time, of silence and of new and ancient rituals originally connected to the sphere of living.

11th Edition - Stories. Italian Design

The eleventh edition of the Triennale Design Museum tells the story of Italian design by using a whole series of stories, which together illustrate its complex nature.

The display goes in two directions: on the one hand, the story unfolds diachronically, while on the other, five themes are examined in a way that allows design to be interpreted through the lens of other disciplines.

180 works dating from 1902 to 1998 – most of which come from the Permanent Collection of the Triennale Design Museum – have been selected as the most representative of Italian design. The choice is based on their innovative technology and shapes, their aesthetic qualities, experimental nature, iconic appeal, and success among the public. They introduce the debate about which pieces no museum of design should ever be without and which ones can be considered as “icons” – and also if this term is actually appropriate when talking about design.
