Founded in London in 2006 by Julien Lombrail and Loïc Le Gaillard the gallery is welcoming today the new exhibition from Atelier Van Lieshout, Furniture III.

Indeed, Joep Van Lieshout corresponds art and design in a common shift in the direction of the functional sculpture. For a number of years, Joep Van Lieshout has been coming up with constructive installations on a large scale, complex systems that he develops in his Rotterdam laboratory-space.

The Atelier was set up in 1995 and is a creative platform put together by this multitasking producer: artist, architect, designer and theorist. He guides the work and proposes collective, transversal, artistic mediation in the workshop’s open structure.

He carries out a reflection process on the human being, his interdependence and environment. Like a fictional scenario with a hero, a generic faceless man, told in episodes.

Joep Van Lieshout’s research is considerable and polyform and reveals an alternative and critical approach to experimentation, a constantly renewed contemporary questioning, driven by a globalised society that has lost its bearings.
