It is the first time for Beijing Design Fair in 2012 to offer Free Trade Zone service and copyright authentication and protecting system, which has attracted many high-end brands. The Art District 751 is in the Dashanzi area, in Chaoyang district, the North-Eastern area of Beijing. This area was born around an abandoned electronic factory of 1950, that came back to life when it became the core of contemporary art and Beijing design. The installation project of the Beijing Design Fair and of the cultural exhibition Design Time as well as the whole graphic project were conceived and developed by Migliore+Servetto Architetti Associati. | ||

| The Biennial of Design (known also by its Slovene acronym BIO) is one of the few major international design exhibitions that has a tradition of more than forty-eight years of presenting contemporary trends in international design. From the first biennial in 1964 to today, BIO has presented twenty-two exhibitions surveying the state of international design. The main exhibition of 23rd Biennial of Design has been conceived by the renowned curators Margo Konings and Margriet Vollenberg (Organisation in Design). The selection of works from 27 countries shows how modern technologies, digitalisation and globalisation, as well as nature and its resources influence designers and their creative work. However the exhibition does not only expose the new and up-to-date ideas of contemporary design production, but also opens up a daring and critical cross section of everything that contemporary design reflects and describes in this very moment. The BIO 23 exhibition display was designed by the well-known Dutch designer Joost van Bleiswijk. | ||

| Prague Fashion and Design Week Designblok and its exhibition space will primarily occupy old palaces in the centre of Prague. Manufacturers and showrooms of interior design will occupy the main Kafkův dům superstudio (Kafka House) in Kafka Square in the Old Town. Located at the foot of St. Nicolas church in the Old Town Square, Franz Kafka’s house is the first historic Designblok Superstudio dedicated exclusively to interior design. Built in 1902 on the location of the burnt-out house where Franz Kafka was born, the house will present new designs in the field of furniture design and living from top Czech manufacturers and renowned foreign brands on four different floors. Organized by the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce under the auspices of the Italian ambassador Pasquale d´Avino, Italian Design Week will constitute a significant part of Designblok this year. Italian presentations of interior companies will occupy the entire second floor of Kafkův dům. Just 200 meters from there, the Clam-Gallas Palace superstudio on Husova street will focus on the theme of luxury, which Designblok curators Jana Zielinski and Jiří Macek decided to explore in this year’s key exhibition – Luxus (Luxury) – located in the Clam-Gallas Palace. Visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy luxury in the form of peace and silence, to stop and relish these scarce moments in the contemporary world. They will find here primarily conceptual exhibitions by ca 20 manufacturers and brands, e.g. Nendo for Lasvit, lights designed by Lucie Koldová and Dan Yeffet for Brokis, and a special collection of coats designed by Liběna Rochová and Denisa Nová for the Simple Concept Store. | ||

With many new products, the latest design trends and developments, and great attention to research and experiment Week. Dutch Design Awards (DDA), in turn, celebrate their tenth edition this year. According to the organisation of the annual design awards, now is the time for a new look and therefore they have changed the set-up of both the awards ceremony and the accompanying exhibition. On Sunday afternoon October 21, all winners are announced during a private awards ceremony, Keynotes & Awards, at the Klokgebouw. This year, the exhibition of the work of all the winners and finalists will not only be held in front of, but also inside the City Hall of Eindhoven. Unlike previous years, the Stadhuisplein forms the backdrop of a container village bearing the illustrious name Smart Design Pavilion. This joint initiative of DAE, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and Capital D, the Design Cooperation of the Brainport Region, accommodates various design activities and initiatives with pop-up bars and restaurants. The activities and initiatives include a part of the DDA exhibition (the new category Future Concepts) and an alumni presentation of the Department of Industrial Design (TU/e) with a focus on technology. | ||

| Interieur is proud to present Ventura Interieur. This is a new partnership with Organisation in Design (NL), the team behind the successful Ventura Lambrate design district in Milan, which is devoted to emerging talent, interesting design happenings and events during the annual Salone design fair. Interieur and Organisation in Design came together after the realisation that both organisations have similar ethos in terms of curating their spaces, they both focus on showing a carefully chosen selection of interesting and exciting work that promotes both commerce and culture. Ventura Interieur at INTERIEUR 2012 will be an international platform that showcases a selection of young designers, new brands, academies and institutions. A total of 70 participants will be spread over the various locations of the Biennale.
