To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the house of Yves Saint Laurent, the late couturier’s creations will be exhibited at six leading Paris museums.
Saint Laurent, who died in 2008 aged 71, was 26 years old when he founded his haute couture house with the business-partner and lover Pierre Bergé. The designer presented his inaugural haute couture show on 29 January 1962 in Paris.

The six museums taking part in Yves Saint Laurent Aux Musées are the Centre Pompidou, the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, the Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Musée Picasso and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent. The exhibition Yves Saint Laurent Aux Musées will delve into the profound inspirational bond the couturier had with art in general, and the collections of French public museums in particular. Conceived and made possible by the Fondation Pierre Bergé the exhibition will foster a dialogue between a selection of garments, including some of the couturier’s most iconic designs, and the permanent collections of six iconic Parisian museums.
