Musée des Arts Décoratifs: Elsa Schiaparelli
See on Map
Exhibitions
July 06 2022 -> January 23 2023
*
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs will host the exhibition «Shocking chic. Les mondes surréalistes by Elsa Schiaparelli", on display from 6 July to 23 January 2023. The exhibition, curated by Olivier Gabet (Museum Director) and Marie-Sophie Carron de la Carrière (Chief Curator), will celebrate the bold and exciting creations of Italian couturière Elsa Schiaparelli (b. September 10, 1890, Rome – d. November 13, 1973, Paris) who drew much of her inspiration from her close ties to the Parisian avant-garde of the 1920s and 1930s. Nearly 20 years since the last retrospective devoted to Schiaparelli at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the time has come to revisit the extraordinary designer’s work, her innovative sense of feminine style, her sophisticated, often eccentric designs, and the thrill that she brought to the world of fashion.

Displayed on two levels, the exhibition is organized both thematically and chronologically around key moments in the career of Elsa Schiaparelli, linking her most remarkable collections from year to year with the works of friends and contemporaries who inspired her fashion designs.

Fondation Louis Vuitton: Monet - Mitchell

Exhibitions
October 05 2022 -> February 27 2023

The exhibitions "Monet - Mitchell" create an unprecedented "dialogue" between the works of two exceptional artists, Claude Monet (1840-1926) and Joan Mitchell (1925-1992). "Claude Monet - Joan Mitchell, Dialogue" will be introduce by the "Joan Mitchell, Retrospective", enabling the public in France and Europe to discover her work.

The "Monet - Mitchell" exhibitions present each artist’s unique response to a landscape and nature, illustrated in a particularly immersive manner. In his last paintings, the Water Lilies, Monet aimed to recreate in his studio the motifs he observed at length on the surface of his water lily pond in Giverny. Joan Mitchell, on the other hand, would explore a memory or a sense of the emotions she felt while in a particular place that was dear to her, perceptions that remained vivid beyond space and time. She would create these abstract compositions at La Tour, her studio in Vétheuil, a small French village.

The "Monet-Mitchell" exhibitions are a scientific partnership with the Musée Marmottan Monet.

Galerie Azzedine Alaïa: Azzedine Alaïa, Arthur Elgort – Freedom

Exhibitions
January 23 2023 -> August 20 2023

With four hands, Azzedine Alaïa and Arthur Elgort shaped the 1980s.
At the very moment when the couturier saw his feminine ideal embodied in the street and by ever more numerous clients, the photographer, together, left the studios, opened the windows, seized movement and cities as a natural backdrop, and nine. Both have actively contributed to renewing a representation of woment that is now assertive, determined, independent.
The exhibition brings together around thirty photographs by Arthur Elgort with the original models by Azzedine Alaïa. Cult, timeless photographs, which have become essential to the couturier’s fashion iconography, as well as more confidential shots make up a unique exhibition in Paris. It consecrates photography and fashion whose revival Alaïa and Elgort orchestrated.

Curated by Carla Sozzani and Olivier Saillard.
