Musée Yves Saint Laurent: Sheer: The Flowers of Yves Saint Laurent
See on Map
Exhibitions

*
Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé lived their daily lives surrounded by flowers and gardens in their apartments, their secondary homes, and their fashion house. Passionate about flowers, the couturier found them to be an infinite source of inspiration.

Yves Saint Laurent shared this admiration for nature with many artists and writers, in particular with one of his favorite authors, Marcel Proust, as he revealed in the magazine L'Egoïste in 1987. A Proustian universe appears in the designer’s interiors as well as during his runway shows. The writer would describe women as flowers, whereas the couturier would pay homage to them by covering them with blossoms.

Over thirty garments and drawings seen in the exhibition highlight this symbiosis between nature, literature, and the work of Yves Saint Laurent.

As in a book, each chapter of the exhibition displays quotes from Proust alongside flowering silhouettes by Yves Saint Laurent, while accessories and drawings by the couturier are presented on pedestals. As if along a garden path, flowers are everywhere one turns, revealing the personality and tastes of the designer: from the lily of the valley so dear to Christian Dior to the YSL logo with its initialed lily-like monogram, from roses signifying love to the bougainvillea of Morocco, or to wheat, the bearer of luck and triumph.

Through iconic garments seen in the exhibition, the visitor discovers the expertise that Yves Saint Laurent drew upon to bring his floral creations to life: from his earliest applied embroidery on the spring-summer dress of 1962 to his inventive prints from the spring-summer 2001 collection, an unforgettable reference to the paintings of Pierre Bonnard.

La Galerie Dior: Dior - Lindbergh
See on Map
Exhibitions
October 17 2024 -> May 04 2025
*
The long-standing collaboration between the late German photographer Peter Lindbergh and the Parisian fashion house Dior is being celebrated with an exhibition of the artist’s work. More than 100 photographs from 1988 to 2018 reveal how Lindbergh portrayed celebrated Dior collections. Known for his evocative and frequently romantic vision and a propensity for working in black and white, Lindbergh shot Anna Wintour’s first American “Vogue” cover and played a major role in the rise of the 1990s supermodels. He is considered among the most influential photographers of his time.

The show will present previously unseen prints from Lindbergh’s famous 2018 shoot in New York’s Times Square for Dior’s 70th anniversary, featuring a group of top models dressed in more than 80 vintage Dior outfits. The photoshoot and the fruitful relationship was the subject of a hefty two-book tome that Dior released with Taschen in 2019, and this exhibition at Dior’s Paris gallery is an unprecedented opportunity to see this work in the flesh.

Palais Galliera: Stephen Jones
See on Map
Exhibitions
October 19 2024 -> March 16 2025
*
For the first time in over forty years at the Palais Galliera, an exhibition is being devoted entirely to an accessory, the hat, treating it as a work of art in its own right. The exhibition focuses on Stephen Jones's creative process, the sources of inspiration behind his pieces, and the role of Paris in his work.

There are close to 400 works in the exhibition, including more than 170 hats, as well as Jones's archives (preparatory drawings, photographs, extracts from fashion shows, etc.) and around forty silhouettes complete with clothes and hats. These 'looks' bear witness to the enduring loyalty between Stephen Jones and some of the world's leading fashion houses, in particular Christian Dior, who he has worked with for nearly thirty years. This key figure has become the most "Frenchified" of English milliners, endowing Paris fashion with his bold energy and boundless creativity.

Musée du Louvre: Louvre Couture

Exhibitions
January 24 2025 -> July 21 2025
*
In consideration of the Louvre’s encyclopedic immensity, this exhibition curated by Olivier Gabet follows a methodological approach geared towards exploring the history of decorative styles, art professions, and ornamentation through the galleries of the Department of Decorative Arts, where textiles are omnipresent, though generally in tapestries and other décor items rather than in articles of clothing.

Over a nearly 9,000-square-metre space, 65 designs are displayed, along with several accessories, newly illuminating the close historical dialogue that continues to take place between the world of fashion and the department’s greatest masterpieces, from Byzantium to the Second Empire. Each of these garments and accessories is on special loan from the most iconic fashion houses, both long-standing and recent, in Paris and throughout the world.

Exhibitions
March 03 2025 -> June 29 2025 10am - 7pm
*
The Azzedine Alaïa Foundation in Paris presents a new exhibition titled "Connivences Artistiques". The exhibition highlights the creative relationship between two fashion icons, Azzedine Alaïa and Thierry Mugler, who were central figures in 1980s fashion.

Through archives and rare pieces, "Connivences Artistiques" delves into the friendship and mutual influence that shaped the careers of both designers. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore key pieces from Mugler’s collections alongside Alaïa’s creations, including 40 items from Thierry Mugler. These works are displayed in dialogue with Alaïa’s own designs, highlighting both the similarities and stylistic differences between the two, while also showcasing their shared vision of the feminine silhouette. The exhibition also offers insight into their personal collaborations, such as the iconic shows and joint projects of the 1980s.

This exhibition serves as a tribute to the bond between the two designers and their lasting impact on contemporary fashion. It provides a unique opportunity to explore haute couture and examine the legacy of these two influential names through their most iconic creations.

1958 // 2025 Brillant - Brussels Expo - Saul Steinberg The Belgians - The Americans - You
Exhibitions
Wed. March 05 2025 10:00-18:00
*
Event organized by Delvaux
We invite you to experience a rare moment, which is both personal and collaborative. You are encouraged to navigate an installation that weaves a long narrative also rooted in the present.

You become the protagonist of a performance. The genesis of this project was the great World Expo taking place in Brussels in 1958. It was the first after World War II and the symbol, as well as the signal, of a world that expresses with strength and inventiveness its energy, modernity and confidence in the future.

Our lens is grounded in the present and the relevance of pivotal moments in design and creation, while projecting these into the future, appealing to sensitivity and curiosity.

The thread that ties it all together is an original duo scenario-orchestration, to be discovered at Delvaux, in company of le Brillant and Saul Steinberg.
